- Full range of motion during strength training is how you build functional flexibility. Short range of motion makes your body tight (which is bad) - this results in having more strength in this short range of motion hence be imbalanced over the full range of motion.
- If you can only do 1 activity for heart health, it would be strength/resistance training, then cardio.
- One metric that can predict all-cause mortality really well: simple grip test.
- Instead of saying "I can't have this food now", say to yourself "I can have it, but I have to go the supermarket to get it". This introduces space in between yourself and the impulse.
- Eating while not being distracted (watching TV etc.) gives a 10-15% reduction in calories.
- Avoid heavily processed foods.
- Write down a few sentences before and after eating something. Afterwards, make changes (e.g. 1 more glass of water, 1 cup of vegetables/day) that are a meaningful and a bit challenging but can be done forever - do this with an unmotivated state of mind. Constantly being in the state of "I can't" is not good.
