Rough Notes
Imagine a stress bucket - decreasing stress means reducing the bucket or making the bucket bigger. There are 2 types of stress:
- Visible - Stress of missing good sleep, not working out yesterday etc.
- Hidden - Micronutrient deficiencies, inefficiencies in sleep and recovery, parasites, fatigue etc.
More stress in the bucket means more adaptability. If it is already full non-targeted (unwanted) stress, it reduces space for targeted stress which is the stress that comes from working out.
- For hypertrophy, total volume is the key.
- There is no good or bad in physiology, (e.g. no good or bad inflammation, just inflammation) just adaptation. Everything you do moves you through a spectrum between delayed and instant gratification.
- The body functions best when it is pushed for adaptation.
- Carbohydrates and fats are mostly carbon, proteins are mostly nitrogen.
- We "release" the vast majority of fat from breathing out CO2.
- Stored glucose is called glycogen, which is only stored in the muscle or liver.
